A Fruit Tree: A Shield Against Hunger and Climate Change
In the heart of Bugesera District, Rwanda, where the sun scorches the soil and seasons often decide who eats and who hungers, a quiet revolution has begun—not with machines or money, but with the donation of fruit trees.
Africa Transformation Network (ATN), through its Community Development program, implemented a transformative initiative to fight malnutrition and protect the environment. A total of 7,009 grafted fruit tree seedlings—including avocados, mangoes, and oranges—were distributed to local schools and community members.
This project is equipping families and students with both nutrition and environmental awareness. These trees will provide fresh fruit that improves children’s health, while simultaneously restoring soil fertility, reducing erosion, and enhancing local biodiversity.
Through ATN’s leadership and your support, communities are learning that caring for the environment is fundamentally caring for life itself.
