Many of you know Charlotte Nyirabugingo who works at ATN with our Peace House ministry. She has served with our team for more than a decade, discipling vulnerable families, especially young moms and children. For a number of years, Charlotte’s health has deteriorated. She has gone to many specialists but her health hasn’t improved. Almost two weeks ago, she was checked into King Faisal hospital due to ascites fluid, difficulty in breathing, swollen legs, etc. It has been found that she has a mass on her ovary which is probably causing these symptoms.
Charlotte has continued to wait patiently for answers. A biopsy of the mass on her ovary was scheduled but was impossible to do due to the complications of the ascites fluid and how difficult it would be to do the procedure accurately and safely. We feel like she is getting the best care possible but her situation is complicated. We have Rwandan, American, and European doctors working together to find a way forward.
A huge praise and relief for her and everyone is that on February 28th, Charlotte finally got a private room!! It’s been hard to get any rest or have any routine in the busy ward she was in. Plus, as you can imagine, Charlotte and her visitors have been praying with, encouraging, sharing food, etc. with the others who are in her ward.
Thank you for your continued prayers, questions, and concerns for Charlotte and her family. She knows she is prayed over and loved by you.
Many have asked how they can help financially. Charlotte has insurance but it won’t cover all of her expenses. If you would like to make a donation towards her medical expenses you can donate here. If total donations are more than what is needed, the surplus will be donated to Peace House Ministries.
