Hello friends, I would like to share with you an update about what God is doing through the ATN-Rwanda Community Program. Recently we had the opportunity to work with a community village to build a house for a homeless woman in GLG (God’s Love Group).
During Covid-19 we visit our community beneficiaries in FGW (Farming God’s Way) to make sure that all are safe. We pray together for the pandemic to go slow. Many of them received their family members who were living in urban areas. They couldn’t find food in the towns and cities so they returned to their rural homes where they can at least find food.
During one of our visits to distribute food and pray, we discovered a homeless widow. She was renting a single room for herself and three children, including a son who is 16 and a daughter who is 18. After we asked her what she thought could be done she told us that she saved for nine years and was able to buy a piece of land. If someone helped her with the roof, she could build the base of a house (foundation and walls).
When the GLG heard that ATN-Rwanda would help with the roof, they didn’t wait to let her struggle by herself to build the base. They also prayed together for the plan to be achieved as well as put their own energy towards the project. They worked with the widow to make mud bricks. Even when a terrible rain came and destroyed 450 bricks they had made, they were not discouraged. They continued to reach the target of 1500 bricks to complete the house. The widow was then able to construct her house of 4 rooms (2 bedrooms, 1 store room and another small size living room).
We thank God that through everything (Discovery Bible Study, God’s Love Group and Community Development) their rural mindset was changed so that they could contribute and feel apart of their own village development transformation. Even more touching is how they felt/shared the pain of their homeless neighbor who was also a widow.
She is now very happy to have a big enough house for her and her children to live in. This is a very important, basic need. Some of GLG members came to thank God for the house completed. They are planning the worship together when Covid-19 restrictions release people to be able to gather together.
We thank the ATN community of friends from different corners of the world who give their prayers and support to this transformation. May God reward your hearts. I wanted everyone to see what God has done for this poor faithful family and the faithful work of GLG members of farmers. God bless you all.
